We at FACES, Inc. believe that, a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia need not be: a death sentence, nor a sanction for abuse or isolation. Many marriages and families can remain intact, grow stronger and more loving. People with Fibromyalgia (PWF) can live happy, fulfilling and productive lives. With the help of volunteers, funders and donors, our board of directors strive to ensure that the education, self-help and eventual support programs of FACES provide the BRIDGE for PWF to move from passive victim to active victor!
Mission statement:
- Improving the quality of life of all people affected by Fibromyalgia, (either directly through their status as a person with Fibromyalgia (PWF), or indirectly through their status as spouse and/or family members/friends of a PWF).
- Providing self-help and education to people with Fibromyalgia to assist with their development as their own advocates, while providing temporary support services during the time of Fibromyalgia related emergencies and crisis.
- Building public/media awareness, education and understanding of Fibromyalgia (FM), and its related disorders.

The name FACES was chosen because our founder saw a need to put FACES on this very common, little known, highly misunderstood, excruciatingly painful, often disabling invisible condition illness. © Through her personal experiences, she realized that there were certain patient groups (people of color, public safety workers, the very young, the elderly and men with FM) that were being ignored. Our Founder set out to demonstrate that FM is an equal opportunity affliction that knows no age, economical, educational, ethnic, marital status, national origin, occupational, parental status, racial, religious, or, social boundaries. ©
The Fibromyalgia Association Created for Education and Self-help, incorporated
is the only Fibromyalgia (FM):
- organization within the City of Chicago
- Association that considers the special issues of public safety workers with FM.
- Association that considers the cultural disparities in diagnosis, treatment, and social support/social acceptance, faced by people of color with FM
- Association that considers the specific issues and concerns of Men with FM
