An antidepressant for pain

Recently Eli Lilly Corp. in Indianapolis, In, released their new anti-depressant, Cymbalta, which is also effective in relieving the pain of diabetic neuropathy. My nurse practitioner prescribed Cymbalta for me and within two days my feet and legs had stopped hurting during the day and within a few days the night time pain had subsided. I was elated to rise in the morning without as much stiffness and no pain. I don't know if it will work for all CFS patients, like myself, but I thought it good to get the word out. - Jan

Serious improvement with Qigong

Hello, I just wanted to share with you the only thing I have found has worked for me in improving my chronic fatigue. I have suffered with CFS for close to 10 years, the last two of which I have been making serious improvement.

I started qigong a bit over two years ago and have found my energy levels, clarity of thinking, motivation, etc., have improved considerably. I should note the changes have been very very gradual. Almost painfully slow.

Qigong can be hard work, but rewarding when it pays off. The book The Way of Energy by Lam Kam Chuen [http://www.amazon.com/Way-Energy-Gaia-Original/dp/0671736450] has excercises similar to the ones I have been doing, but finding a good teacher can be invaluable. I'm not sure if this is of any use, but I figure if you get a group of people saying the same thing, perhaps this information can be colated in some way. Keep up the good work. - Richie

Doctors should run ALL of the viral blood tests

I have FM/CFIDS. I thought that was all I had until I went to Dr. Derek Enlander* in New York. At least 15 of his patients recommended him highly and I thought, “All of these people can't be wrong.” He ran a battery of viral blood tests on me that none of my other doctors had. I see four to five other doctors; all treat ONE SYMPTOM and NONE of them EVER talk to one another.

When the viral tests came back, I was shocked to the gills to find that I had 500 times the amount of Epstein Barr virus than the normal range. I also have Chlamydia pneumoniae in my lungs, Herpes virus 6, and two immune system parasites, which he treated immediately with azithromycin - five day Z-Pack. That's three immune viruses on top of the FM/CFIDS. [See the article “Trial Indicates Azithromycin Therapy May Be Beneficial for Subset of CFS Patients; Raises Questions for Continuing Research,” at www.immunesupport.com/library/showarticle.cfm/id/7273]

Doctors not specializing in FM/CFIDS but diagnosing them are not doing all they can. Dr. Enlander said that a lot of people with these immune-compromising syndromes often get bombarded with a host of immune viruses on top of the original syndrome. Doctors need to be more vigilant in their work-ups of FM/CFIDS patients. There could be a lot more going on than we expected. - Gabriela
