Plan to Attend the CFS & FM Conference in Kansas City June 1&2

May 16, 2007

"Powerful "Speakers and Life-Changing Information" for patients - plus education credits for healthcare professionals - are drawing cards for the 7th Annual Fibromyalgia & Chronic Fatigue Awareness Conference in Kansas City, June 1 & 2.

The conference host is Fibromyalgia Coalition International (FCI), a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization. Building on its origins as a support group, the Kansas-based organization is dedicated to promoting “real hope and real healing” with an emphasis on natural, alternative resources - for people with CFS, FM, and related illnesses.

Features of the conference – billed as “Fibromyalgia & Fatigue Matters” – will include:

New insights into the mechanism of Fibromyalgia pain, by William Shaw, PhD, director of the Great Plains Laboratory, Inc. http://www.greatplainslaboratory.com – a testing services firm. He will discuss how oxalate formation in tissues from heart muscle to the brain may relate to FM, CFS, recurrent Candida, and more. Dr. Shaw has held positions at the Center for Disease Control, Smith Kline Laboratory, Children’s Mercy Hospital, and University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine.

Hormone imbalances and CFS/FM, by Fort Worth, Texas-based CFS & FM specialist Kelly Boulden, MD. She will discuss the multiple hormone imbalances associated with these illnesses, explain why usual lab testing often fails to such imbalances in these illnesses, and and present evaluation and treatment options.

Inflammation matters: Causes effects, and non-drug solutions – by Gloria Gilbere, ND, DAHom, PhD, - author of 9 books including Pain/Inflammation Matters: Recipes for Life and Invisible Illnesses. She is an international leader in the study of FM, CFS, leaky gut syndrome, chemically induced Immune system disorder.

Getting to the root of the problem, not just trimming the branches - by integrative health specialists Carl Davis, MD, and Terri Martin, RN, BSN. They will discuss the role of inflammatory pathways, cytokines, and lifestyle in affecting CFS and FM.

Treating & beating CFS/FM – by Rodger Murphree, DC, CNS. Dr. Murphree has written five books on how to treat illnesses using natural methods - including Treating and Beating Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: The Definitive Guide For Patients and Physicians Dr. Murphree will outline methods he has found helpful to support improved sleep, pain, energy, cognition, and mood in CFS/FM patients.
