Sharing Lifestyle Adaptation Tips
I’m interested in being able to convey ways to manage everyday life with CFS/ME/FMS in a more “public” and far-reaching manner than sporadic newsgroups. For example:
n I have Raynaud’s and have horrible hand pain in the wintertime when going outside first thing in the morning and driving to work. I’ve adopted the idea of “rice-pillows” from several slipper and mitten companies and have created rice packs that I warm in the microwave for 1.5 minutes prior to going outside. They work wonderfully.
n I’ve learned to vacuum while kneeling on the floor to help conserve a little energy and save my back.
n I’ve created an Excel chart for keeping track of my monthly bills so I know at a glance whether I’ve actually paid them.
I’m sure other folks have great creative ways they’ve adapted their lifestyle. Do you know a forum where we could share ideas? – Edna
Note: What a wonderful suggestion! To get things started, we’ve set up a permanent thread on the ImmuneSupport.com Community Message Board entitled “Tips for Managing Daily Life.” This thread will always appear at the top of the Message Board along with “CFS and FM Patient’s Guide” and “What Worked For Me” (which focuses on therapies). Anyone who’s found a lifestyle adaptation that helps them cope better with their illness is invited to post the tip there.
