Eliminating Allergies Helped
I have had Chronic Fatigue since 1986 when it was called the yuppie disease or effects of mono. I have suffered a great deal, and the first 4-5 years I would spend 6 months in bed without being able to function. I could not will my hand to pull back the covers to get up to use the restroom…I was unable to work for the 6 months that this happened, and it usually happened between January and June of each year. Then as time passed I was able to do more and spend less time being bedridden. In 1991 I…was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. The pain in my shoulders and neck were unbearable, and so I now lived with both Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia. In 2003 I lost my husband of 21 years to prostate cancer and one year later I was hit again with another devastating illness, this time it was Polymyalgia Rheumatica, which causes pain in the long muscles of the body. I could hardly take a step because the pain was incredible, and so I lived with this for 3 years…
I have been seeing a chiropractor for 9 years who practices NAET (Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Technique). She does not pop or snap your bones back into place but pushes on your skin in one direction and then if that does not work she goes the opposite way. She has kept me on my feet for 9 years, and I was able to care for my husband and our business. [She] kept telling me she was sure these illnesses were due to allergies, and after testing me for allergies she started clearing my allergies 1 or 2 at a time. She finally got down to my allergy for animal fats, that affected my DNA, BBF, cells, muscle, tissue, immune system and many more of what makes up my body. She treated me for all of these allergies connected with animal fats… I have been pain free since last June 2007.
I no longer have symptoms, nor any kind of pain from Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia and Polymyalgia Rheumatica. I know this seems far-fetched but my family can see it in my face, my movements and in my outlook that has so dramatically changed for the better… I have told my family doctor about all of this and he says whatever I am doing to keep doing it, because he cannot believe the change in me. He says I look so much younger than I have since I started seeing him in 1995. I hope that this information helps those that may want to try this NAET technique and see if it helps them. I hope God blesses everyone with these illnesses because you are tested to the end of your ability to cope. - Rose Mary

Netherlands Doing Similar Post-Exertion Study
Re: Dr. David Bell’s article “ME/CFS as a Mitochondrial Disease” I'm very glad with this article. In my opinion it is coming very close to the core of our disease. And yes, I have been wondering for some time, why this has not been studied at more locations in the world. In our country we have problems with the government not willing to spend money on this kind of studies. They only do a little bit with CBT and GET, which is not good for most of us. In the Netherlands, the CFS Research Centre in Amsterdam, Vermeulen, et al., is now in the final stage of a study with more than one hundred CFS patients. They all do two exercise tests as described in the article. They also do many blood tests and psychological tests like Rand 36 and CIS20 in order to exclude other possible causes of fatigue. I don't know the exact numbers, but know that the outcome is about as predicted in the article. – Gerard

I Just Want to Feel Better
Re: Dr. David Bell’s article “ME/CFS as a Mitochondrial Disease” This is interesting information, and the part about post-exertion fatigue is certainly not news to me, although my fatigue level is always high. What I 'felt' like, reading this, though, reminded me of seeing Dr. Cheney 20 years ago and listening to him explain the ATP cycle as if 'Voila!' I remember listening patiently, and then saying, “That's very interesting, but I just want to feel better, and be able to live my life again.” So bravo to all those doing research, but after 20 plus years, I just want to feel better and live my life again. It's difficult for me to get excited about more interesting information. – questus9

Omega 3 Fish Oil & Muscle Recovery Time
I started experiencing post-exertional malaise 2 or 3 years ago and had to stop exercising completely. When I researched the symptom picture, there was virtually nothing on it. I'm glad to see this topic being addressed and hope to see treatments developed in response to the data. Note to other sufferers: Since I began taking Omega 3 oil in the form of fish oil 8 months ago, my muscle recovery time has improved tremendously! Be careful to choose the highest quality of fish oil, though - all fish oil is NOT alike. – Susan17 ___ Note: This information has not been evaluated by the FDA. It is generic and is not meant to prevent, diagnose, treat or cure any condition, illness, or disease. It is very important that you make no change in your healthcare plan or health support regimen without researching and discussing it in collaboration with your professional healthcare team.

My dear "questus9"-
I just wanted to thank you for your comments!!! I feel EXACTLY the same way!! I have spent soooo much money on each "new" protocol that my holistic dr (whom I do respect highly) has suggested, and I have yet to receive any relief from any of them!! I have spent alot of money doing exactly what Dr. T's protocols have recommended, and the same thing--ZERO RESULTS!! I have spent 5 yrs. being literally approx. 80% bed-ridden, and "all I want is to feel better"!!!!
I "have" to keep trying "each new thing that my dr.s want me to try" because I am terrified that if I don't, then "that" may be the "one" that "would have worked"!! But, up to this point, none has, and I am still bed-ridden!! If it were not for my husband, I would be living my life in a nursing home. God love him for his patience, understanding, and complete unconditional love!! I do realize just how BLESSED that I am to have him in my life; however, that said, I STILL am bed-ridden.
I have found ways to try to stay positive, and thank Our Creator for that. For if it were not for my Spirituality, I truly shutter to think of where I may be. Probably in a "nut house" by now!
I know for a fact that my holistic dr. does have "my best interest in his heart, and I am truly grateful for all that he has tried to do for me, and the countless hours of research that he has spent trying to find a solution for me", but like I said, no matter what we've tried, I've yet to get any "good results". So, I continue living my life in what I call my "cave"-(my bedroom)!! I may get "lucky" maybe once every 2 weeks or so, and be able to spend an hour or maybe even an hour and a half on a very good day out on my deck enjoying the wildlife and the beautiful fresh air, but after I do that, then I am immediately right back in bed!!
Anyway....I had no intentions on writing this much, because mostly I just wanted to thank you for having the "courage" to come right out and say...... "yeah, this is all nice and well, but I just want to feel better"!!! Your post just jumped right off of the page at me, and actually made me "feel better" to know that there is someone else out there who feels the way that I do!!! Of course, I am extremely sorry that someone else is suffering as bad as I am, but I'm sure that you understand what I am saying. Atleast, I sure hope that you do!
So, THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HONESTY!!! You may not have known that you were going to "help" someone by posting that, but I want you to know that you helped me tremendously to "not feel so very alone"!!
I pray that we will both find relief "someday", and will be able to not have to feel this way any longer. But until then, I honestly understand from the bottom of my heart and soul exactly how you feel!!
May Creator Bless You, and May You Be Able to find Peace and Comfort, somehow!!
Peace, Love, Light, Laughter, and Many Blessings to you and yours,
Terri RainSpirit

I know how you feel. I've had CFS/ME for well over 20 years. I don't know about you, but most of the time, I either don't feel like preparing something healthy to eat, or don't feel like eating it if it's there!
I am now trying some stuff called "Greens First" that I got from my acupuncturist. It's a combination of lots of greens, etc, in a powder form. This one is mint flavored. I'm not much on mint -- hurts my stomach -- but with lemon it's tolerable. I have been just amazed at how much better I feel! Not only do I have more energy, but I actually WANT to do stuff!
The directions say to mix one scoop in a glass of water and take it without food. So, from experience, I started with one teaspoon instead of the two tablespoons that the scoop holds. First I took it with my breakfast -- energy all morning! Next day I tried it before breakfast and had a tummy ache all morning! And, didn't sleep well that night. So, I started taking it every other morning with breakfast. After a few weeks, I ran out of energy on the day I didn't take it, so took it three days in a row -- couldn't sleep well that third night!
Anyway, it's just working wonders for me, even if I'm only taking a portion of what they recommend!
I see on the internet that they also have berry flavored, so have asked my acupuncturist to see if he can get that.
My whole goal, like yours, is just to feel better! I don't know how long this will work -- sometimes herbs work great for a few months, then stop helping. But, I'm very happy with the results for now. I'm now taking about a teaspoon every day. I'm hopeful that as time goes on, I will be able to increase the amount I take, as my body adjusts.
If you're interested in it, try putting "Greens First" in your search engine. It's available in several places on the internet.
